Personal:

Married with 2 kids. My personal story is that at the time I started running, I was 5'11", 255lbs. When my daughter was born I realized how important it was to me to not only be there for all of her significant milestones and life events, but how important it was to truly BE THERE. By that I mean that I needed to be the BEST version of myself physically, so that I could be a great example to her, and could be a healthy participant in all of life's magical events. When I first started, I could finish a mile (barely) on a good day in about 11-12 minutes. Now, I am running 40 miles a week as I prepare for my first full marathon and currently weigh 170lbs.

Legs didn't feel snappy, probably due to the increased mileage from my marathon training plus the fact that I have done very little speed training. The first four weeks of my marathon training is pretty much entirely base training plus hills. The fastest mile I had ran was about 8:30, so I feel like coming out to this 10k and running at 7:43/mile with no taper was a good effort. I ran this race with my wife, Dad, uncle, and two close friends. My friend Bill beat me by about 20 seconds, and it was his second race ever. Good for him!
